The concept
Interactive overlays: the HypeLayer concept for live streams and box breaks
Between two pack openings, your live can go quiet: chat waits, watches, then scrolls away. HypeLayer starts from a simple idea: give your audience something to do while you run your show.

The problem: a live that is watched, not lived
A box break builds towards one big moment: the card everyone is waiting for. Around that moment there is dead time: cutting the case, explaining, waiting for the next pull. That is where the audience drops off.
Chat often has a single role: commenting. Nothing on screen reacts to its messages, and nothing gives it a reason to stay until the next pull.
What is an interactive overlay?
An overlay is a layer of graphics drawn over your video: a frame, a counter, a gauge. It becomes interactive when it changes with what happens in the live: something you do, a chat vote, a goal reached.
In practice, HypeLayer provides these elements as ready-made widgets grouped into scenes. You display them in OBS like any browser source, then control them while you are live.
The HypeLayer mechanics
Each mechanic targets a precise moment of the live:
- Chase cards: show the cards everyone is waiting for and celebrate each hit the moment it lands.
- Reveals: hide an image and unveil it at the right moment to build tension.
- Applause meter: Voggt chat votes live, every message pushes the gauge higher.
- Goals, counters and countdowns: make progress visible to everyone.
- Memory: a pairs game chat can follow and cheer on.
These mechanics are not gimmicks: they give the audience a role (vote, guess, hope) and give you a tempo to keep.
How it works, from setup to live
It comes down to three steps:
- Prepare your show: start from a template, organize your scenes and personalize them with your own images, videos and sounds.
- Add your overlay to OBS: paste your secure link as a browser source.
- Go live: trigger your interactions from your control workspace, or from a Stream Deck.
You stay in charge of the pace: nothing plays without you, and your audience sees the result on screen, in the vertical 9:16 format used by live shopping platforms.
Who is it for?
HypeLayer is built for streamers and box breakers, first on Voggt, with Pokémon box breaks as the first universe. More platforms (Whatnot, TikTok LIVE, Instagram Live, eBay Live, YouTube, Twitch) and more universes are planned: progress is public on the roadmap.
HypeLayer is an independent service, not affiliated with Voggt or the holders of the licences mentioned.
Where does HypeLayer stand today?
HypeLayer is in private beta. We are opening access gradually, and the team reviews each application. Applying does not guarantee access, but it helps us build the mechanics streamers actually need.
